APECS Netherlands initiated at IPY Montreal
APECS is the acronym of the dynamic Association of Early Career Polar Scientists. It is a vibrant international and interdisciplinary network for undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, early faculty members, educators, and others with interests in the poles. It ambitiously aims to encourage and develop research, education, and outreach and thereby shape the future of polar science. |
During the inspirational APECS Workshop preceding the IPY Conference in Montreal in April 2012, the Netherlands National Committee was initiated. They hope to bring together Dutch early-career scientists and enthusiasts and to represent their polar passions and their concerns. They look forward to empowering relationships with the global APECS network and with the Willem Barentsz Polar Instituut.
Their official launch event will take place in Hilversum on June 29.
