WBPI, APECS, and a Passion for the Poles
Presumably you found your way to this site because you have an interest in the Polar Regions and you want to see what’s in it for young people. Stick around to find about APECS and the Netherlands’ National Committee.
APECS is short for the Association of Early Career Polar Scientists. It is a dynamic international and interdisciplinary network of undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, early faculty members, educators, and others interested in the Polar Regions. Our website provides a wealth of news and information on careers (advice, programs, positions), research (funding, data, forums), events (conferences, meetings), and outreach. Becoming a member online is easy and free. Set up a profile and immediately tap into the benefits of a 3500-strong polar facebook.
APECS Netherlands has been initiated during the inspirational APECS Workshop at the IPY Conference in Montreal in April 2012. Our National Committee aims to bring together all up-and-coming polar researchers across the country and to tailor to their passions and concerns. We look forward to an empowering relationship with the global network and we intend to bring all that is good about APECS to our national members and to our immediate colleagues in Belgium and Luxembourg.
